I think most people here know the Ikarus and often went with it, however most cities shut their Ikarus busses down around 10 years ago. Berlin took them out of service in 1999, other cities some years later.
Most transportation companies have one or more of them as museum car.

At the moment there are only a few of them left in service and mainly as back-up vehicles or for traffic peak hour.

What about the Rocar busses?

Yes, this busses were also in service in eastern Germany, but no more in this time. Most used busses in Germany are MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Solaris, sometimes Neoplan and Setra.

Well, about MAN, I'll tell you a storry. Arround 1974, Ro and DE, had a cooperation to construct in Ro, buses, trolleys and truks.
So, our factory named "Autobuzul", startded to construct several models MAN buses, named ROMAN. They were constructed till ~1978, and spred to all counrty, as city and intercity buses.There are some exemplaryes that work today!! I tryed to find some photos, and sone links.They worked in Bukarest between ~1975÷ 1980.

What about the Rocar busses?

It is a storry!!
I'll search dates and i'll post them. The former name of the factory was "AUTUBUZUL" the became "ROCAR".
Short:
-1953 - Factory "Autobuzul" from Bucureşti (known alsow as Tudor Vladimirescu factory), started to produce.
- Since 1991, became "ROCAR" SA. The factory was closed something between 2005-2007.

This photos represent the troleybuses models type 1960 and 1970. I did not found yet buses, but the shapes are identically.

About the Bukarester fest for celebration of 100 years since the Tramwayes Transport Society was Estabilished.
The celebration was prity poor, because almoust all old vehicles were cutted and melted as old steel.
